Catrinelund's loading site was previously called Återvändan, and was created at the beginning of the 19th century as a large loading site. Here, large quantities of iron were shipped out from Skogaholm and Gryt Mill, to be transported further across Lake Hjälmaren towards Stockholm. It was also busy with both freight and passenger ships, and the harbour's captain was housed in the Faktor building (now the Gästgiveriet).
Today's Sjökrogen started in the early 2000s as a small simple boathouse with room for 10 guests indoors. When Lennart and Pia Carlsson became the sole owners of Sjökrogen in 2009, they began to develop the area, and when Roger Hjälm took over the restaurant and hotel operations, Sjökrogen became larger. Condominiums and summer houses were built and the inn was renovated to accommodate guests all year round.
Today the hotel offers 28 beautifully decorated rooms, spread over two hotel buildings, along with a relaxation area with an outdoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and gym. The Inn houses a bar and restaurant, as well as a banqueting hall and four conference rooms, making Katrinelund a fantastic meeting place for both everyday life and parties, work and pleasure - both in summer and winter.
